Autumn Gales, Gannets & the chance of Aurora

Visiting Shetland in autumn? NEW for 2027, we are excited to announce ‘Autumn Gales, Gannets & the chance of Aurora’.

This wild and windswept one-day, or multi-day workshop, focuses on photographing Northern Gannets at the world-renowned Hermaness National Nature Reserve in their environment against the beautiful turquoise and turbulent Atlantic Ocean with the hope of catching a glimpse of the Northern Lights. With creative imagery at the forefront of the workshop’s purpose, combining environmental imagery with long exposures, ICM (intentional camera movement), pan blurs, and black-background studio-style portraits, you will begin to build up a mightily impressive and stand-out portfolio of Northern Gannets.

Do you fancy embracing the windy and ever-changing conditions whilst photographing one of Scotland’s most loved seabirds, at one of the most awe-inspiring seabird reserves? Find out more here - Autumn Gales, Gannets & the chance of Aurora
